The State of Virginia has approved our online program to meet the mandatory 8-hour pre-licensing education. Our program is fully narrated, animated, and includes interactive learning games and practice tests. Your progress is tracked so you can complete the program in as many sittings as necessary. At the end of the program, you will have the option to print your certificate of completion with your name on it. We will also submit your information to the board stating that you have completed the program.

Prepares students with the basic skills necessary to enter the electrical field as a Lineman. These skills include: overall safety considerations, power pole climbing skills, knowledge of the basic tools and materials involved with the electrical line crafts, general construction standards, basic rigging principles, and basic electrical theory that is specific to this trade. Classes introduce students to job related information and hands-on training. A component of the course includes preparation for the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) exam.

NCCER Core Introductory Craft Skills
Covers basic knowledge and requirements needed in the construction trades. Introduces use of tools and equipment, with emphasis on construction safety, including personal and tool safety. Provides a working introduction to basic blueprint reading and fundamentals of construction mathematics.

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Certificate is designed to provide the job skills necessary for employment as an entry level HVAC service technician. Special emphasis is placed upon the installation and repairing of residential and commercial air conditioning units.

Tradesman Recertification On-Line (Electrical)
This three-hour course, recognized by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) provides an overview of significant changes in the 2014 National Electrical Code (NEC) since the previous code cycle (2011 National Electrical Code). It is required for currently licensed electricians who intend to renew their Virginia licensure.

This three-hour course, recognized by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) provides an overview of significant changes in the 2015 Virginia Mechanical Code (VMC) since the previous code cycle (2012 Virginia Mechanical Code). It is required for currently licensed plumbers who intend to renew their Virginia licensure.

The Carpentry program prepares students to enter the field of Carpentry. The Carpentry program includes an introduction to the basic carpentry processes. The purpose of the course is to prepare students to continue study in the construction trades or to begin work at the entry level in a carpentry occupation. The carpentry units are written to the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification standards.

The Masonry course prepares students to lay building materials such as: brick, concrete block, pavers, to construct or repair walls, and other structures. Students will use trowels, levels, hammers, chisels, masonry saws, mixers, and other necessary hand or power tools of the trade. Fundaments of masonry include the information and basic skills necessary to build from blueprints: residential, commercial, and industrial structures. The goal of the course is to prepare the student for an entry-level job in a variety of areas within the building trades. The Masonry units are written to the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification standards.

Provides fundamental principles of joining metals, welding, and cutting processes, equipment operation, and safety procedures with emphasis upon welding and cutting procedures. Basic training on plasma tables, including basic layout and design in the Inkscape program.
NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator Level 1
This 10-week class serves as the first level of training in the Heavy Equipment Operator program. Students will learn the following content: core craft skills, orientation to the trade, heavy equipment safety, identification of heavy equipment, basic operational techniques, utility tractors, introduction to earthmoving, interpreting civil drawings, and using simulator exercises for equipment basic controls, loading and unloading, excavating, and trenching. Students receive hands-on training with using simulators, which replicates real-life operating scenarios through rotation-motion platforms and high-resolution 3D displays for excavator and
wheel loader equipment. Hands-on lab schedule on simulators is included.
