Governor’s School is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the counties of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson, and the City of Norton, who have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

For 2021, we are offering two Governor’s School options: Governor’s School and Governor’s School- EMS.
The regular Governor’s School program will allow students to take 6 credit hours from MECC’s summer schedule course offerings (running June 1 through August 4). These courses will be offered online in either asynchronous or synchronous formats. MECC will cover the cost of tuition and books for students participating. Once accepted, students will receive advising to select courses that fit well into the students’ personal career/ college goals. Students who have a goal of completing a program from MECC while in high school can use this program to get them a step further in that process, and lessen their academic load during the school year. Governor’s School- EMS will be offered on campus in a face-to-face format from June 7- June 18th. Protocols for safe, in-person learning will be followed. Students will earn 6 credit hours and two industry credentials free of cost. This program is excellent for students with interest in Emergency Medical Services or the Healthcare Industry.
