3D Design

Purpose

Classes offered in the 3D Design Technology program will introduce you to design techniques that will prepare you to work in engineering technology fields. All of the courses taken are in the computer-aided drafting and design curriculum. Students will take courses in related areas only. MECC utilizes CADD operations extensively. 3D software programs are available and used extensively. These programs are the most widely used in industry in our service area. 3D Design classes are available to day and evening students.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will be able to:

  • Practice industry recognized safety practices and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment in an industrial operating environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of drafting conventions including symbols, linetypes, lineweights, and dimension styles as applicable to the design discipline.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and /or interpret 2D and 3D projects to solve common engineering problems
  • Illustrate the engineering design process from the transformation of an idea or need into a completed project.
