DMME Advanced First Aid (Initial)

This certification authorizes the holder to meet standards for providing emergency care in the coal mining industry as required by Virginia Coal Mine Safety Laws.

DMME Advanced First Aid Reciprocity

This course provides the required instruction for EMTs, First Responders, and METs to attain DMME Advanced First Aid certification.

DMME Advanced First Aid Recertification

This recertification course provides the instruction needed to continue to meet standards for providing emergency care in the coal mining industry.

DMME Diesel Mechanic Continuing Education

This recertification course provides the instruction for the holder to continue to perform maintenance work on diesel engines in underground coal mines as recommended by the manufacturer of the engine.

DMME Surface Foreman Continuing Education

This recertification course provides the instruction for the holder to continue perform all surface mine foreman and/or examiner duties required by State and Federal laws and codes, including recording findings of on-shift examinations.

DMME Underground Foreman Continuing Education

This recertification course provides the instruction for the holder to continue to perform all duties required by State and Federal laws and codes as a first class underground mine foreman/examiner, including recording findings of pre-shift, on-shift and weekly examinations.

DMME Surface General Coal Miner

This certification authorizes an individual not previously employed in the Commonwealth as a coal miner to work at surface coal mines. You must have a current MSHA Form 5000-23.

DMME Underground General Coal Miner

This certification authorizes an individual not previously employed in the Commonwealth as a coal miner to work at underground coal mines. ou must have a current MSHA Form 5000-23.

DMME Underground Shotfirer CEU

This recertification course provides the instruction for the holder to continue to perform blasting operations, pre-blasting and post-blasting examinations, and handle corrective measures with misfired shots in underground coal mines.

Surface Retraining(MSHA)

Experienced miners are required to receive 8 hours of annual refresher training to keep them aware of good safety practices at their operation.

Experienced miners are required to receive 8 hours of annual refresher training to keep them aware of good safety practices at their operation.

Surface Coal Miner (Initial full 2 day course)

Federal law requires miners to be trained and retrained to enable them to perform their jobs safely and in a healthful manner.  Inexperienced or new miners are required to receive 24 hours (surface) training before they begin working. This training is a combination of classroom and on-the-job performance. In addition, experienced miners are required to receive 8 hours of annual refresher training to keep them aware of good safety practices at their operation. 

Underground Coal Miner (Full 4 day course)

Federal law requires miners to be trained and retrained to enable them to perform their jobs safely and in a healthful manner. Inexperienced or new miners are required to receive 40 hours (underground) training before they begin working. This training is a combination of classroom and on-the-job performance.
