Academic Search Complete

Comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,500 journals and a total of more than 10,000 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for nearly 1,000 journals (EBSCOhost)

CQ Researcher

Published 44 times a year, CQ Researcher report offers in-depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues, with regular reports on topics in health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the U.S. economy. Each report is written by a seasoned journalist based on a common structure. Our subscription to the database goes back to 1923 and up to present.  Users may browse through articles by topics in alphabetical order, or search for articles using words, dates, or other criteria. Credo Reference

Credo Reference provides access to 327 full-text reference titles in a variety of subject areas. Credo Reference titles are also searchable via the Wampler Library online catalog and VCCS MetaLib.

Factiva

With a business focus, Factiva is a product of Dow Jones that offers full text access to over 10,000 magazine, journals, leading local, national and international newspapers and news wires.  It provides in-depth research on a company, industry or marketplace.  In addition, about 3,000 images are added daily.  Richmond Times Dispatch is covered from 1989 – . Gale Virtual Reference Library

Database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. (Gale)

Literature Resource Center

Provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analysis of authors from every literary time period and discipline. Combining information from Contemporary Authors, Contemporary Literary Criticism, Dictionary of Literary Biography, Twayne’s Author Series, and Scribner Writer Series, with articles from literary journals, the Literature Resource Center covers more than 124,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists and other writers. Newspaper Source Plus

Provides cover-to-cover full text for 131 national & international newspapers, including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, The Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, and The Times (London). Also contains selective full text for more than 335 U.S newspapers. In addition, full-text television & radio news transcripts are provided from ABC News, CBS News, CNN, FOX News, National Public Radio (NPR), etc. (EBSCOhost)

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

Draws on the acclaimed social issues series published by Greenhaven Press, as well as core reference content from other Gale and Macmillan Reference USA sources to provide a complete one-stop source for information on social issues. Access viewpoint articles, topic overviews, statistics, primary documents, links to web sites, and full-text magazine and newspaper articles. (Gale)

Oxford English Dictionary (OED)

Database contains the entire text of the 22-volume OED 2nd edition with supplements prepared throughout this century. In addition to containing the definitions for most of the words in the English language, the OED also provides information on word origins and quotations showing the history of a word’s meanings. Oxford Reference Online Premium

Contains over 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press, including titles in Oxford Companions Series. All books are cross-searchable. (Oxford)
