The College is located on US Hwy 23 South in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, which can be approached from I-81 or US Hwy 58.
The Tri-Cities Airport in Blountville, Tennessee serves the region. The airport is approximately sixty miles from the campus. From the airport, take I-81 South, take exit 57B onto I-26/US Hwy 23 North, and follow US Hwy 23 North after entering Virginia. MECC is located on the left side of the road approximately thirty miles North of the Virginia state line. The Lonesome Pine Airport in Wise, Virginia is available for private and state planes.

Lodging and Directions

Delegates and special guests arriving on campus for the ceremony should park in Parking Lot E. A map of the campus is available on our Maps & Directions website.
An MECC host will greet you in the lobby of Phillips Taylor Hall and will direct you to the robing area.
Delegates: please plan to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m.
Delegates are asked to provide their own regalia and are required to wear regalia if they are processing. If you do not have regalia, please contact your institution for assistance. During the ceremony, delegates may leave personal belongings in the designated room. This room will be secured during the ceremony.

Inaugural Concert/Home Craft Days
In case you would like to extend your visit, an Inaugural Concert will be held beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Goodloe Center. A celebration of traditional mountain music featuring Wayne Henderson & Helen White, John McCutcheon, Joe Newberry & Mike Compton
Concert Reception will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the Slemp Commons.
