In commemoration of the Sept. 17, 1787, signing of the Constitution
A Congressional initiative requires that educational institutions receiving federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education “shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.” (PL 108-447, “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005,” Dec. 8, 2004; 118 Stat. 2809, 3344-45 (Sec.111).
To accomplish this, MECC:
- Provides information and events related to the Constitution each year
- Developed this website to serve as a 24-hour resource for students using informational tools including sources recommended by the U.S. Department of Education [Federal Register: May 24, 2005 (Volume 70, Number 99)]
