The Fund, established by members of Dr. Westover’s family, will be specifically used to assist with faculty, staff, and student professional development, recognition and learning tools. Dr. Westover, who has served as President of MECC since July 1, 2017, has established a Leadership Academy at MECC for staff and is developing a leadership training for students as well.

Additional contributions to the fund are welcome. All gifts to the President Kristen Westover Fund are fully tax-deductible. Should any funds remain after Dr. Westover’s presidency, they will be available to future presidents to use for the same purpose as indicated by the donor.

I am extremely appreciative to my amazingly supportive family for establishing this Fund,” said Dr. Westover. “We recognize the challenges students face in accessing and completing college, the challenges faculty face in ensuring their skills and knowledge are relevant in today’s rapidly changing environment, and the burden of the expense of funding professional development. This fund will also provide resources to help build and strengthen current and future leaders through support of the employee and student leadership programs offered by MECC.”

The Mountain Empire Community College Foundation supports the mission of Mountain Empire Community College by providing scholarships and funding for student success programs, professional development for faculty, and cultural programs for the community.
