Become a Power Hour Peer Leader

Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) is a new project to help more students be successful taking MTH 3 (Algebra I). As a Peer Leader, you meet one hour a week - the Power Hour – to lead Algebra I students in a review of the material they learned that week in class.

Qualifications to become a Peer Leader: teacher recommendation, an overall G.P.A. of 3.0, excellent communication skills and an overall attitude of concern for other people. Also, your schedule must fit into the time slots allotted for one of the two PLTL classes, and it is imperative that you be able to attend training every month.

A Peer Leader is paid for attending the initial training, which will be held the second week of August; for attending the class two days a week; for conducting the Friday Power Hour workshops; for meeting with the instructor twice a week and for attending the required training held every first and third Wednesday of each month.

If you are interested in becoming a Peer Leader, tell your instructor. Then, contact Susan Bolling at 523-2400, ext. 335, or sbolling@me.vccs.edu. Her office is Godwin 216B.

She will give you information on the pay rate and further information on how to sign up to become a Peer Leader.
