Mountain Empire Community College has long been the showcase of efforts to preserve the rich musical heritage of our region. We are dedicated to the perpetuation of Appalachian music and culture and now offer a career studies certificate in Old-Time Music. We offer classes for beginning and advanced students in string band, fiddle, banjo, guitar, dulcimer, shape note singing and traditional ballad.
