MECC Featuring Seminar on the Lethal Drug Molly
Big Stone Gap, VA—Mountain Empire Community College will host a community information seminar focusing on the dangers of the highly publicized drug Molly, titled “Ecstasy in Our Community,” on Tuesday, April 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Goodloe Center of Phillips-Taylor Hall. The drug targets the central nervous system, causing euphoric highs with detrimental side effects including rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, blood vessel constriction, psychosis, and seizures. Molly is targeted to young, first-time drug abusers between ages 12 and 17, as well as recreational drug users who believe they are purchasing “pure” ecstasy. The seminar is hosted by the Healing Hands organization and MECC Student Services Division and presented by UVA-Wise and the Medical Reserve Corps of VA.
