  1. A successful online student must have basic technology skills and have reliable access to the Internet.
  2. A successful online student will read the syllabus and explore the Blackboard site on or before the first day of class. 
  3. A successful online student will be prepared for the start of classes by having the required textbook and other materials necessary for the class.
  4. A successful online student will check school e-mail daily.
  5. A successful online student will log into class on a regular basis.
  6. A successful online student will check announcements in Blackboard on a regular basis.
  7. A successful online student will maintain contact with the instructor either to ask questions or discuss any other problems. This contact will show the instructor that the student is actively participating in the learning process and taking the job of being a student seriously.
  8. A successful online student will ask for help, inquire about available tutoring, and participate in available study groups or form study groups, when possible. 
  9. A successful online student will actively participate in the class discussion board and activities.
  10. A successful online student will study every day rather than cram for exams. 
  11. A successful online student will prioritize the work, completing the most important assignments first.
  12. A successful online student works to achieve clearly-stated, attainable goals.
  13. A successful online student will work ahead, take pride in his/her work, and turn in assignments before their due date. Work should be submitted on time.  
  14. A successful online student manages his/her time and does not procrastinate. Waiting until the last day does not allow for unexpected events that could prevent meeting the deadline.
  15. A successful online student will print the schedule and keep it in a prominent place, so deadlines are not missed.
  16. A successful online student keeps distractions to a minimum. It is important to log into your class in a quiet place. 
  17. A successful online student takes good notes from the material presented. Reviewing notes often while the material is fresh helps the student retain the material. 
  18. A successful online student will maintain regular contact with his/her academic advisor throughout the semester. 
  19. A successful online student takes responsibility for his/her education by getting involved in his/her studies and following instructions.
