  1. Successful students have clearly- stated, attainable educational goals.
  2. Successful students know their advisor, meet with him or her regularly, and  discuss with him or her their educational and career goals.
  3. Successful students log on and explore the sites for Blackboard components when  they are made available for the class.
  4. Successful students check for important information from their instructors in their school e-mail as well as in announcements in Blackboard on a regular basis.
  5. Successful students read the syllabus so they know when assignments are due and  the dates of their exams. 
  6. Successful students attend class.
  7. Successful students come to class on time.
  8. Successful students inform the instructor if they are going to be late or have to leave class early.
  9. Successful students see their instructor either before or after class or during office hours. Successful students will talk to the instructor in a meaningful conversation and ask questions. This will show the instructor that the successful student is actively participating in the learning process and taking seriously the job of being a student. 
  10. Successful students accept responsibility for their own education, get involved in their studies, and follow instructions.
  11. Successful students will complete and turn in assignments that look neat. This shows that they took care and pride in their work. Successful students turn in all their assignments.
  12. Successful students take advantage of any extra credit opportunities presented to them.
  13. Successful students manage their time and do not procrastinate.
  14. Successful students study a little every day. They tend to earn better grades than students who cram for exams.
  15. Successful students should take good notes and review them often. Reviewing material while it is still fresh will help with success in class. 
  16. Successful students inform the instructor as soon as there is any problem with the material.
  17. Successful students ask for help. They inquire about available tutoring and participate in study groups. 
  18. Successful students will talk about the material with other students. Discussion is another method of learning.
  19. Successful students pay attention in class. They are polite and respectful. They also participate in class even if they are unsure that their answers are correct. 
  20. Successful students ask questions.
  21. Successful students keep classroom distractions to a minimum.
  22. Successful students do not text or use cell phones in class.
