BASIC GUIDELINES TO ENTER

  1. ONLY current or former MECC students may enter—all entries must be the original work of the person submitting and should be unpublished.
  2. You may enter in more than one category and may submit up to 5 poems, 1 short story, 1 work of creative nonfiction, and up to 3 photos, paintings, or drawings for consideration.
  3. A submission form must be completed. These forms may be picked up in (and returned to) the Division of Arts and Sciences on the first floor of Godwin Hall.
  4. Submissions must follow the submission guidelines in each category.

POETRY, NONFICTION, AND SHORT STORY ENTRIES
Ensure your name is in the upper right hand corner of the first page only and email to:

Submission form should be brought to Brandi Martinez (Godwin Hall 224).

DRAWING AND PAINTING ENTRIES

  • Please limit drawings and paintings to 18×24 inches.
  • All submissions should be in a protective cover with YOUR NAME, and a TITLE for the work on the BACK. You may pick up your submissions after the contest.
  • Paintings may be acrylic, oil, watercolor, or mixed media but must be DRY when submitted.
  • Drawings may be graphite, charcoal, chalk, or dry pastel, oil pastel, acrylic, pen & ink, or mixed media.

Submissions along with a submission form should be brought to Brandi Martinez (Godwin Hall 224).

COLOR AND BLACK/WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY ENTRIES
Students should submit a CD with all photos (at least 300 DPI) to Brandi Martinez (Godwin Hall 224).
Please save photos in either JPEG or TIF formats. Write your name on the CD.
Submissions along with a submission form should be brought to Brandi Martinez (Godwin Hall 224).
Winners will be announced in April and awards will be made at MECC’s Awards Night in May!
