Nursing Leading to RN
Program Description:
The Associate in Applied Science degree
curriculum in Nursing is designed to prepare selected students to
qualify as contributing members of the health team, rendering direct
patient care as beginning practitioners of nursing in a variety of
health service facilities. Upon successful completion of the curriculum,
students will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination
leading to licensure as a registered nurse (RN). The Virginia Appalachian
Tricollege Nursing Program is a three college consortium serving Mountain
Empire Community College, Southwest VA Community College and VA Highlands
Community College.

Practical Nursing Leading to LPN
Program Description:
The Practical Nursing curriculum is designed to prepare beginning
practitioners with the knowledge and skills to care for patients
of all age groups. Students will be prepared to assist in meeting
the health needs of the community through provision of quality nursing
care as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Upon successful completion of
the program, graduates are eligible to apply to take the National
Council Licensure Examination NCLEX-PN). The program length is three
semesters (one year).

Emergency Medical Services Technology
Program Description:
The purpose of this curriculum is to produce
competent entry-level Emergency Medical
Technician-Paramedics (EMT-P) who can
