ARRA_MECC AmeriCorps had two full-time, one year only, openings for members to serve at MECC. Dawn Wells and Elisha Alexander are the appliciants who succeeded in being awarded the positions.
The target area is tutoring and literacy improvement for college students.
Ms. Wells serves as a leader for the college's peer-led team learning program for Algebra I students and for other students struggling with math. Ms. Alexander serves as a mentor to students who require help with college success skills, developmental courses or other courses, and encourages them to meet their educational goals. Both members are trained to teach some components of student success skills courses. Both membersare available to help tutor students who do not meet the requirements for other tutoring programs on campus.
